They lived in Casper until 1980, when they moved to Wheatland and he built their home with the help of his nephew, Michael Bachmeier. Survivors include his wife of 37 years of Wheatland; six children and their spouses, Timothy E. She was born Feb. 28, 1924, in Bainville, to Julian and Mary Barnier. On Dec. 20, 1942, Adeline married Perer PORTRA in Wolf Point. Pete passed away in August of 1965 and Adeline became mother and father to her children for several years. In 1971, Adeline married Raymond GIESE and added six stepchildren to the brood. Survivors include her children: Terry (Cheryl) Portra, Denny (Ruby) Portra, Peter (Kass) Portra, Mick (Melanie) Portra, Lynne (Paul) Finnicum and Darcy (Godfrey) Saunders. Forty-six grandchildren and great-grandchildren lovingly remember her. Stepchildren surviving her include Gene, Wayne, Darrell and Craig Giese, Maureen Williams and Roxanne Nickoloff. She is also survived by her sister Lucille Rebo; brothers Lawrence (Esther) Barnier, Albert (Anna) Barnier; and stepbrother Clarence Laford. Descendants of Ben and Elma (Funk) Bartel gathered for a family reunion July 28 and 29 in Hillsboro. All of the children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great grandchildren were present. Activities included a low German buffet at Olde Towne Restaurant, a tour of the Adobe House and Kreutziger School (where Ben attended), a visit to Ben and Elma's farm (where Herb and Pat live now) complete with hayrides provided by Penner's horses, a wiener roast at the Marion Reservoir and a Sunday morning church service at the Hillsboro Historic Church with Rev. Lawrence Hart delivering the message. Also present for the Sunday noon meal were Sally (Bartel) Plenert of Hillsboro, Marie (Bartel) Guhr of Newton and Carl and Velma Funk of Hillsboro. The next Bartel reunion will be held in Colorado in 2003.

Henry Batthauer, 83, passed away Saturday evening at Memorial Hospital. He was born April 19, 1870, in Dobrinka, Russia, the son of the late Mr. And Mrs. Adam Batthauer. He attended schools in Russia and was married there in Jan 1891 to Miss Eva MUELLER. In 1913 the family came to America, direct to Sheboygan. Survivors include his wife; two sons, Martin and Alex, both of Sheboygan; three daughters, Mrs. Henry (Lydia) Rippel of Las Vegas, Nev, Mr. Alex (Mollie) Hermann of Sheboygan and Mrs. Henry (Emma) Rothau of Pasadena, Calif; eight grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren, and one brother, Andres of Sheboygan. Funeral services will be held at 2:30 pm. Wednesday, at the Ballhorn Funeral Chapels. The Rev Lloyd N. He died July 3, 1984.Mrs. Krieger moved to the Greeley area with her parents at the age of 11 in 1922. Survivors are a daughter, Laverne Hamilton and husband John of Greeley; a son, Clarence Jake Krieger of Garden City, 11 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren and six great-great grandchildren. Her husband, parents, two sisters and a brother are deceased.
Interment will be in Linn Grove Cemetery, Greeley.

Mrs. Bechtold and the late Mrs. Charlotte Schwartz, who died only a week prior to Mrs. Bechtold's passing, were life-long friends. They lived together in Russia, were next-door neighbors in Alberta.
