Ben married Elsie SCHETTLEY on Feb. 21, 1941, and they settled on their farm near the family homestead. They had four sons, Gerald J. (Suzon) Schumacher of Detroit Lakes, Minn., Dennis D. (Bonnie) Schumacher of Demming, N.M., Ronald B. Schumacher of Helena, and Robert D. (Jackie) Schumacher of Terry. Ben is preceded in death by his parents, wife Elsie, brothers Jacob, Christian, Adam, Henry and sisters Eva, Mary, Lydia and Leah. He is survived by brother, Marvin and wife, Janice of Clarksville, Iowa; sisters, Maggie and her husband Emil Raeuer of Napoleon, N.D., Emma Werre of Bismarck, N.D., and Rose and Ed Rau of Jamestown, N.D.; his sister-in-law, Martha Schumacher of Streeter, N.D.; his four sons, nine grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. Graveside services at the Park City Cemetery.

Youngest son of Henry and Marie Catherine Schwartzkopf. His three brothers and four sisters have all preceded him in death. His father died when he was only nine yeas of age, and his mother died two years later when he was eleven years of age. He was united in marriage with Marie Catherine REINHARDT at New Denhof, Russia, on December 26, 1873. Two years after his marriage, he and his wife and eldest son set out for America, landing at New York City on Dececember 11, 1875. To Mr. and Mrs. Schwartzkopf were born fourteen children; four daughters and ten sons. His wife preceded him in death on November 27, 1909, nearly thirty years ago. The surviving children are daughter Sara Schwartzkopf of Bison; sons John Benjamin and Fred of Bison, Kansas; David, Herman, and Edward of LaCrosse,Kansas.

Burial will be in the Michaelis cemetery. Daughter of Fredrick and Katherina Schwein. At the age of six years, she came with her parents to America. The family was one of the first colony that settled in south Russell county in the Bender Hill community. In 1889 she was united in marriage with George KARST. One child was born to this union and later a son was adopted by the couple. They farmed in south Russell county until the death of Mr. Karst on March 20, 1923. On Sept. 13, 192(?) she was united in marriage with Henry F. DEINES and shortly thereafter they moved to Russell where they lived until Mr. Deines died on May 9, 1936. She is survived by her daughter, Mrs. Hannah Strecker of Russell; a son, Ferdinand Karst, of Hoisington; a brother, Jacob Schwein, of Milberger; one sister, Mrs. Katherine Niedenthal, of Russell; three grandchildren; four great grandchildren and one great great grandchild.

Another little girl will never see her daddy. The little girl is Sharon Gayle Schwein, almost a year old. Her daddy, 27 year old Raymond Schwein, husband of the former Margaret Griggs and son of Mr. and Mrs. Henry Schwein, Hoisington, was killed in action, December 13 in Germany, a War department telegram to Mrs. Schwein early last evening, stated. Raymond, who is a son-in-law of Mr. and Bob McMullen, 1412 Eleventh Street, has been in the service four years. The McMullens have two other sons-in-law in the service. Leonard Brown, husband of the former Amy Lou Griggs and Fred Moore, Jr., bombardier in the air corps is the husband of the former May Ellen Griggs. In addition to his wife and parents, Raymond is survived by six brothers and two sisters. Sgt. Herman Schwein in France, Corporal Paul A. Schwein in England and Tec. Daughter of Henry and Katherine Becker Schweitzer. On Jan. 25, 1931, she married Theodore BITTER at Susank. He survives. Other survivors include: two sons, Elmer, Great Bend, and the Rev. Glenn R., Topeka; a brother, Adam Schweitzer, Gravette, Ark.; a sister, Martha Grasmick, Rocky Ford; two half sisters, Bertha Root and Becky Robbins, both of LaJunta, Colo.; four grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by four brothers, four sisters and a half sister. Burial will be in Hoisington Cemetery.

Her parents were David Schwemer and Catherine Schriock Schwemer. She came to the United States with her parents in 1913 and they settled in the Mountain Lake, MN area. She married Henry KNODEL in Mandan Nov. 28, 1917. Henry, her husband, died July 19, 1972. She is survived by four daughters, Edna, Mrs. Marion Lewandowski, Tacoma; Irene, Mrs. Duane Torvik, Minot; Joan Henrikson, San Hose, Calif.; and Shirley, Mrs. Wm. Mascini, Superior, MT; five grandchildren; six great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, daughter Agnes in 1939, her parents and three brothers and two sisters. Burial was made in the Carson Community Cemetery.

The family left their home in Russia in 1899 and came to Mexico (Middle America). The circumstances forced them to leave Mexico and come to America in 1901. God bless the widow with which she had lived 64 years with her husband, Johann Jakob. Mourning the death of John Jacob besides the four sons and one daughter were 36 grandchildren and 25 great-grandchildren.

Mrs. Shriwise, who has been a widow since 1934. Her father, Conrad Schwindt, brought his wife and family of five children to America in 1866. They came money sent by his father, who had come to this country a few years previously. Four years after they arrived in this county, Mr. Schwindt died (1934). There were now seven in the family. Christina was 19 when her mother died (1906). She married John SHRIWISE in 1908.

Son of Charles and Carrie Reichert Seibel. In August 1950 he married Geraldine HORNBAKER at Hillsboro. On Nov. 15, 1989, he married Lois WOODS at McPherson. She survives. Other survivors include: a son, Larry Woods, Lowell, Ark.; three daughters, Judie Steiner and Lynda Krahl, both of McPherson, and Lisa Nelson, Kansas City, Mo.; nine grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren. Graveside service in Ebenfeld Cemetery, rural Hillsboro.

Son of John E. and Neva Damerell Seibert. On May 2, 1942, he married Betty Jean DeBusk at Macksville. She survives. Other survivors include: four daughters, Carolyn "Connie" Grizzell and her husband, Rodger, Macksville, Patricia L. "Pat" Wood and her husband, Ben W. "Bill", Belpre, Pamela J. Ruane and her husband, Tom, Overland Park, and Cynthia D. "Cindy" Keenan and her husband, Mark, Longwood, Fla.; a brother, Verne and his wife, June, Macksville; a sister-in-law, Donna Suiter, Hutchinson; 12 grandchildren, Michell Welch and her husband, Kevin, Heather Hutchison and her husband, Curtis, April Cleveland and her husband, Chad, Timber Wood, Drift Kearns and her husband, Colin, Thomas, Jeff, and Sarah Ruane, John Caleb, Kali, and McKenna Keenan, and Machala Beam and her husband, Jim; eight great-grandchildren, Megan, Colin, and Jordan Welch, Kilee, Kayla and Kendell Hutchison, Brianna Cleveland, and Kiera Kearns; and many nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents. Burial will be in Farmington Cemetery.

Son of Alfred Albert and Rachel Emma Rich Seidel. On Jan. 26, 1940, he married Theda Mae COX at Ashland. She died in 1979. On Nov. 14, 1981, he married Rita Ann WASINGER at Wichita. She survives. Other survivors include: a son; a daughter; a brother; two sisters, including, Lillie Cline, Wakeeney; five grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. Graveside service will be at 3 p.m. Sunday at Highland Cemetery, Ashland.

Daughter of Ignatz and Regina Schoenberger Seidel. She married Joe G. LANG June 4, 1946, in Ellis. He died Oct. 20, 1987. She married Paul WAGNER March 22, 190, in Ellis. Survivors include her husband of the home; six sons, Gerald Lang of Durham, N.H., Dr. Robert Lang of Bedford, Ind., Ernest Lang of Douglas, Wyo., Edward Al Lang of Sycamore, Ill., Brian Lang of Ness City and Clyde Lang of Ellis; four daughters, JoAnn Hohman of Wakefield, Marilyn Stueve of Olpe, Donna Scarbrough of Austin, Texas and Velma Jackman of Ronake, Texas; three step-children Dwayne Wagner of Great Bend, Ellen Prescott of Manhattan and Brenda Horton of Lindale, Texas; half-brother, Terry Barber of Great Bend; half-sister, Donna Ryder of Burrton; 27 grandchildren; ole great-grandchild; four step-grandchildren; and two step great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by one son, James Lang and one sister, Shirley Ann Seidel. Burial will be at St. Mary's Cemetery in Ellis.

Survivors include: a son, Arthur J., Kinsley; four grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and a great-great-grandchild. She was preceded in death by three brothers, Frank J., Joe B. and Ed Seidl. Burial will be in St. John's Cemetery, Spearville.

She married Emanuel H. BRACK on April 22, 1918, at Otis. He died Sept. 6, 1953 and buried at Jonesboro, Arkansas. Survivors include: four sons, Glenn, Ralph Alvin, all Hoisington; Delmar, Wichita; one daughter, Eunice Basye, Hoisington; two brothers, Louis Seidl Sr., Otis and Charles Seidl, Olmitz; 13 grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren. Survivors include his wife, of the home; five daughters, Kathleen Bean, Annie Laurie Seifert, Jeanine Arrighi,  Dinah Heidrick,  and Tammy Albertson; a half-brother, Larry Seifert, Missouri; three grandchildren; and two step-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by two brothers, Eugene and John Cedric. Burial in Dorrance Cemetery.

His parents, two sisters, Emma Brumann and Mary Schlagel, and three brothers, Jake, Fred and Henry "Stub" Seilbach, are deceased. Interment will be in Linn Grove Cemetery in Greeley.

Survivors include his wife, Carol of Lucas; one 'ornery' son, Rocky,his wife Lisa, of Wakefield; three lovely daughters, Jacqueline Reusch, her hyusband, Rod of Broken Arrow, Oklahoma; Susan Schultz, her husband Robin of Arkansas City, Kansas; Carla Errebo, her husband Scott of Sylvan Grove, Kansas; ten grandchildren: Shana and Josie Schultz; Shawna, Tyson, and Marcus Seirer; Shayla and Shelby Errebo; Geof Reusch, Tracy Travis and Terrie Headrick; two great grandsons, Taylor Travis and Geoffrey Reusch; three sisters, LaVonne Rupert of Salina, Kansas, Lorraine Homewood of Halstead, Kansas and Judy Kirby of Pennsylvania; one brother, Gene Seirer of Lucas; and many nieces and nephews. Pastor Jim Wagner conducted the service, Janelle Winkler was the organist. Steve Schultz was the soloist. Gene Angel played a guitar solo.
