Volgograd Archive

N.N. Smirnov, Ph.D. is the Director of State Archives of Volgograd region.
It has been more recently discovered that this archive contains significant Volga German
resources, primarily for the Volga villages in the southern portion of the Volga
Valley. While the Volga German holdings in this archive are smaller than that of
Saratov and Engels, it is an important facility for the southern villages.
In the fall of 2004, Ludmilla Koretnikova generously took a small donation from the friends
of the Volga Archives to Volgograd. The director wrote a lovely
thank you letter.
The Volgograd Archives has
Evangelical-Lutheran Church books from the following locations.
Most, but not all of these books are for Volga German Villages.
This does not necessarily mean
that the census books for these villages are housed here also, although many well be.
